You’re going to need a bigger closet

Hey y’all! Happy First Day of Fall, aka Pumpkin Season!

Ok, so you’ve probably noticed that I’ve stepped up my social media game lately. What started as a fleeting thought: “Hey, September has 30 days in the month… I should post a photo each morning before I go into work!” turned into something much more.

Best laid plans of this “challenge” I gave myself. There’s so much more than just “taking a photo” that goes into it. Not only do I have to allow enough time in the morning to get the outfit right, but I have to make sure the lighting is also ideal, while also making sure that Ellie’s toys or something random doesn’t appear in the background of the shot. I can’t repeat outfits. I have to tag all of the items. I have to make sure I’m giving credit where credit is due. Phew!

It’s Day 22 and I’m nearing the finish line – Surprisingly, this month has flown by, but I’ll be proud I stuck with a goal once the month rolls to an end.

(If you’re here for the Stitch Fix discount code, keep scrolling…) 🙂

By consistently posting and providing information about a retailer or clothing item, I think this gave me an advantage to being accepted into the rewardStyle family. What is rewardStyle, you ask? Well, let me tell you!

RewardStyle & LIKEtoKNOW.it

rewardStyle is a Dallas-based company, which runs a monetization platform for fashion, beauty and lifestyle influencers.

LIKEtoKNOWit is a social-based shopping service powered by rewardStyle. It allows users to purchase items their favorite influencers are wearing or using in a given post. You’ll recognize a LIKEtoKNOWit post by a small white or black heart in the right bottom corner of the image and URL in the caption.

I follow a handful of influencers, located both locally and throughout the country, and I’m consistently browsing and shopping their links through the LIKEtoKNOWit app. I never knew how one went about being able to post to this app and monetize their posts, but I knew that it was an exclusive program, and I probably needed a large social following to be accepted.

Au contraire! Consistency, engagement, and good content was what I needed. So, I completed the quick and painless application on the rewardStyle website, and received my ‘congratulations’ email within a week.

I would hardly call myself an influencer, but they apparently saw something in my blog and/or social posts that justified bringing me on-board. I’ve read several blogs and online threads claiming that so many people go through multiple rejections, and some have a very difficult time getting into the program, so I was most definitely stunned, yet insanely blessed to be one of the chosen few.

So, how does it work? Well, let me tell you!

Step 1: Download the LIKEtoKNOW.it app from your app store.

Step 2: Take screenshots of LIKEtoKNOWit posts featuring the small white or black heart icon on Instagram, Pinterest, or Snapchat.

Step 3: Return to the app which will have automatically uploaded your screenshots. It will provide thumbnails and links to purchase items included in the post.

Step 4: Tap one of the items to visit the page URL of the store it’s from.

Bada-bing, bada boom.

The one drawback I’m experiencing with LIKEtoKNOWit is that some of the items in my closet are no longer sold by a select retailer, or because I buy so many things on sale or clearance, I can’t find it on the store’s website (which wouldn’t be on the app, either.) But that’s okay – I want to be able to share whatever clothing and products I can with you , and how I go about finding good deals. So, eventually, I’ll be posting items in real time so I can say things like, “Y’all I bought this at Walmart for $5 today. Go and get it before it’s gone!”

More to come with my rewardStyle journey, and in the meantime, check out my LIKEtoKNOWit page!
