Favorite things friday

Hey y’all! I promised in my last post that I’d be starting my bi-weekly posts called Favorite Things Friday, so here I am to deliver said promise 🙂

This Week’s Tidbits:

  1. Spotify playlists that actually help you stay productive at work
  2. The shopping app you can’t live without
  3. My new favorite face moisturizer
  4. A local hangout to enjoy with friends and family (& fur babies!)
  5. Easy, delicious (and healthy!) recipe that tastes like it was made at an Italian restaurant

Spotify Playlists

I prefer Spotify as my main source of music since Pandora has pretty frequent ads (albeit short, but they still interrupt my music). I also like that Spotify has the on-demand capability; I want to hear a song, I find it and play it. I continue to curate playlists and I always stumble upon new ones, which is always fun to do. The ability to download whatever music you choose, and then be able to play it at a later time without WiFi or cell service is pretty awesome, too.

Now that I’m back at work, I love to turn on a playlist that will essentially serve as upbeat background music (think the Muzak in a new Open House) and will allow me to concentrate and not get distracted. So, when I have projects that need to get done, I don’t need to be belting out “Genie in a Bottle.”

Here are some of my favorite playlists. If you have a playlist that you love, I’d love to hear from you and add it to my collection!

Shopping App – Fetch

Ok, so be honest with yourself… how many receipts do you currently have floating around in the bottom of your bag?

You could be getting FREE STUFF just for taking a picture of each of them!

I stumbled upon an app called Fetch, which is a free app in which you can take photos of ANY receipt and get points just for scanning it. Certain brands and items that you purchased are worth more points (I always get the most points from grocery store receipts), but even a receipt from a place like Great American Cookies or even just the gas station can get you at least five points. The points accumulate with every scanned receipt, and then you can redeem them for magazine subscriptions and/or giftcards to retailers like Target, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, on experiences like AMC theaters, Build-a-Bear, and Airbnb, and hundreds of restaurants!

So, if you shop for groceries, clothing, beauty products, or WHATEVER… download this app and start scanning those receipts. It’s free money, baby!

Use my referral code and get 2,000 points when you scan your first receipt!

Face MoisturizerClinique ID

They say that it’s never too early to develop a skincare routine. I just wish I’d started earlier… Because now I’m in my early 30’s, wishing my skin still looked like it did when I was 20.

This summer heat has been pretty brutal on me, and I’ve tried several moisturizers to keep my skin in-check before the winter months come and wreak havoc on my skin again. I’ve tried some moisturizers with SPF (which ultimately break-out my skin), some with tint so makeup application is fairly minimal, and some to just simply put on under my makeup.

I’ve used Clinique for years (thanks, Mom for introducing me to it!), and I’ve fallen in-love with their new formula that’s customized to your skin, and targets individual skin needs. Witch Clinique ID custom blend moisturizers, you’ll purchase the base, which could be either the Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly, Lotion, or Gel (there are several variations of each), and then you pick your treatment cartridge which can range from Uneven Skin Tone to Lines and Wrinkles. I love that the serums are not One Size Fits All, and that you can truly customize them. It’s kind of fun, too!

Sidenote: Keep in-mind that since I work in marketing for a MAJOR mall operator, I would prefer that you purchase your beauty products in a mall, and NOT online, whenever possible. 🙂

Local Hangout – Hop & Sting Brewing Co.

If you live in or near Grapevine, Texas, I highly suggest checking out this totally cool hidden gem. It’s located not too far from Grapevine’s Main St., and features both indoor seating as well as a spacious outdoor beer garden with patio tables, chairs, umbrellas, and (BEST PART) misters for those scorching summer days in Texas. There is a wide variety of beers on-tap, as well as souvenirs and branded koozies that fit on traditional pint glasses!

Grapevine is well-known and recognized for it’s wineries, so getting to enjoy a brewery every once in a while is a fun little change of scenery. Chris and I are also part of the Hop & Sting Pint Club (it’s free!), and we get a discount every time we visit, as well access to insider info on events, specials, and promotions only available to the Pint Club members!

Also, puppy pals are welcome!

This is an older photo of Chris and his quarantine beard… haha

Recipe – Lemon Chicken Piccata

Watch out, Gordon Ramsay. I’ve got a recipe that’ll knock your socks off!

Since we got used to cooking a LOT during quarantine, I was finally able to try the dozens of recipes that we’ve accumulated from recipe books and Pinterest. I’ve got a bunch of them to share with all of you, but I wanted to at least share this one!

Subscribe to my blog so you won’t miss out on the mouth-watering recipes to come!

Well folks, that’s all for this week! I hope you enjoyed it – Let me hear from you in the comments!

The next Favorite Things Friday will be Friday, September 11th, so don’t miss out!

Lastly, our first wedding anniversary is coming up, and our original plan was to travel somewhere tropical. Well, with Coronavirus taking over the world, and Chris’s passport needing to be renewed, we decided to roadtrip it somewhere within the US. We both love to take roadtrips together, so we’re looking forward to an adventure-filled vacation – More to come on that! (And of COURSE there will be a video of the whole trip once we return!)

I hope y’all have a great weekend,
