Favorite Things Friday – Volume 1, Issue 5

Hey cutie… yes, YOU! Welcome back 🙂

This Week’s Favorites:

  1. Have you visited a pumpkin patch this season yet?
  2. Printing photos can be easy AND affordable
  3. My new favorite resurfacing face mask (Best part: it’s natural and NOT tested on animals)
  4. A local Italian restaurant that’ll have you in a food coma afterward
  5. You know you love listening to true crime podcasts…

Note: All of the following recommendations and opinions are of my own, and this is not sponsored post.

Pumpkin Patch – Hall’s Pumpkin Farm in Grapevine, TX

Like everyone else and their dog, we had to visit a pumpkin patch this season! We picked a hidden gem on the outskirts of Grapevine, and chose to visit on a Saturday (in hindsight, we should have visited on a non-weekend day). Although it was quite busy, having to wait in a pretty long line to get in, the line moved fairly quickly, mostly due to the fact that they are a cash-only attraction. The Corn Maze is also included in your admission price, and there are additional activities such as the hayrides and petting zoo for the little ones.

Pumpkins and gourds are also for sale – this is also cash only. Refreshments and snacks are available for purchase, but I’m unsure of whether or not they accept debit/credit cards.

Though we had a GREAT time, we would recommend going on a weekday. Not only is it less crowded, but it’s also FREE! Perfect little spot for kids of all ages.

If you’re reading this, comment on my latest “Favorite Things Friday” Instagram OR Facebook post with your favorite Halloween costume you’ve ever worn. I’m giving away another Starbucks giftcard on Monday, October 26th 🙂 🙂

Printing Photos – Walgreen’s Photo

There is nothing better than a framed family photo hanging on the wall, or sitting on the table or bookshelf. Printing photos might feel like a lost art, but there’s still something so wonderful about it. The issue now is that we take SO many photos with our phones, and the stress of having to pick our favorite ones can be overwhelming. BUT, I have discovered the ultimate way of printing quality photos, posters, and canvases that look amazing and don’t cost an arm and a leg!

Have you ever used Walgreen’s photo services? If so, have you ordered online? Because there is ALWAYS a discount code that can save you a LOT of money. I ordered the canvas prints and the poster-sized bridal portrait for our wedding from Walgreen’s, and the quality was incredible. My total? About $12. Seriously. They happened to be having a big sale (with an even deeper discount than normal) a few weeks before our wedding, and I jumped on it! SCORE!

Right now, everything is 50% off (with some products up to 65% off), and most of the time, same-day in-store pickup is available! I will sing Walgreen’s Photo’s praises until the cows come home, and I can’t recommend them enough. Especially because I’m so frugal and if there’s a discount code or coupon, I WILL find it. 🙂 Check out their current deals!

Resurfacing Face Mask – Peach & Lily Collection

Let’s be real about our skin. We don’t give it as much love as we should. That’s gotta change, ya’ll!

I recently visited an Ulta (*throws confetti*… because I love Ulta), and was browsing the overwhelming array of skincare products on the shelves. Having acne-prone, sensitive skin, I’m often weary about trying something new. I also prefer products that are all-natural and friendly to the environment as well as our furry friends. A lot of the acronyms I’ve been seeing on powerful skincare products are AHA and BHA; they’re the recent skincare buzzwords, and for a good reason.

AHA stands for alpha hydroxy acid, and BHA stands for beta hydroxy acid – AHAs are water-soluble acids made from sugary fruits. They help peel away the surface of your skin so that new, more evenly pigmented skin cells may generate and take their place. On the other hand, BHAs are oil-soluble. Unlike AHAs, BHAs can get deeper into the pores to remove dead skin cells and “gunk.”

I spoke with a completely honest and transparent sales associate that told me about the Peach & Lily product line, and he asked what my skincare concerns were.

“Well, I want to look like I’m 20 again, Barry.”

Results that make you look ten years younger are not guaranteed, but I can attest that this specific product can dramatically change your skin. And it did! My skin feels incredibly soft, and the color/texture of my face seems to be evening out.

This specific product gently exfoliates, resurfaces, and retexturizes skin – Recommended for:

  • Dullness and uneven tone
  • Rough, uneven texture
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Clogged pores, acneic skin

If you’re dealing with clogged pores, rough patches, or bumps, this mask is for you. The result? Dramatically smoother texture with drastically minimized appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Give your skin a total reboot. The Peach & Lily Super Reboot Resurfacing Mask effectively and gently exfoliates and refines skin. For those dealing with pesky clogged pores, rough patches or bumps, you’ve met your masking match. Enjoy dramatically smoother texture and the visibly minimized appearance of fine lines and wrinkles after just one use.

Texture: Jelly-like, soothing, light
Scent: Subtly fresh floral and hints of the ocean (I’ll say that it doesn’t smell very good, but it is refreshing)
Skin Type: all skin types, even those with sensitive skin

Local Italian – Napoli’s Italian Kitchen in Grapevine

Chris and I are ALL about visiting restaurants and shops that are locally-owned and not part of a franchise, so Napoli’s Italian Kitchen fit the bill (and was going to cross all of our cravings off of our list.)

The ambiance alone makes it an awesome restaurant, and the service is always great. Although their focaccia bread, calamari steak diavola, and fried mozzerlla were tempting, I stuck to a keto meal and was STILL so in-love with what I chose.

I chose the Chicken Milanese, which is Parmesan crusted chicken, lemon, extra-virgin olive oil, dressed baby arugula, fennel, red onion, with a MAGICAL sauce to drizzle over the top of the dish. Amazing! Chris had the Supreme Pizza with marinara, sausage, pepperoni, onion, green pepper, mushroom, and olives – He devoured ALL of it.

Podcasts – Best True Crime Episodes

Admit it… You’re probably streaming a true crime show or at least have one (or multiple) in your queue to watch! If you spend any time driving or spending quiet time throughout the day, a free true crime podcast is the way to go! ha I haven’t listened to very many myself, but I’m always looking for new ones, and I stumbled upon this curated list put together by one of my favorite digital publications, The Everygirl.

Check out the list here!

Thank y’all again for stopping by and for the constant support. I’m continuing to learn and grow as far as a digital presence is concerned, and I’m excited about the future.

And if you actually caught the “hidden gem” sentence to enter you to win a free Starbucks… thank you 🙂 If not, now is the time to go back and read…

Until next time, stay sweet and silly!
