Have you ever participated in a Wine Trail in Grapevine? It’s more of a “wine walk,” and Chris and I first learned about the Grapevine Wine Trails when we purchased tickets on a whim for the Valentine’s Day Sweetheart Wine Trail several years ago, and that’s what sparked our love for both good wine and for the City of Grapevine! We’ve since experienced several Wine Trails, & brought friends along!

There are typically several Wine Trails throughout a normal year; Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Halloween, and the New Vintage Wine Trail (that we just found out about). With the year being such a cluster dumpster fire, and all of the festivals and events getting cancelled, I was surprised to see the New Vintage Wine Trail pop-up on my Facebook events list.

Included in the ticket price for the event is a souvenir wine glass, three wine tastings at each participating winery, and light bites at each location. It’s a go-at-your-own-pace event, and we love the flexibility and the freedom to go where we want, when we want. You pick up your wine glass along with your “passport” at the designated location, and you’re on your way!

Bingham Family Vineyards
This was our first time at this location, and we are looking forward to trying it on a “non-event day” because its a fairly small place & seating is limited. Their Dirt Farmer, a big bold red wine blend with 100% Texas grown Tempranillo, Merlot, Carignan, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Sauvignon, was DELICIOUS. We can’t wait to go back!

Bull Lion Winery – NEW
Slated to open in November, they will be co-located in the “Nomad” space, which is a shop that’s located in a converted fueling station. This Texas-based winery produces more than 17 different red and white varietals, and it has previously participated in Grapevine’s annual GrapeFest Wine Festival. Along with wines, customers can enjoy homemade salamis, local cheeses, Italian desserts, and other fine foods. Getting to sample the wine prior to their opening was definitely a treat, and we fell in love with the Texas Sangiovese and the Tempranillo!

Cross Timbers
We love this quaint winery, which is located in the Historic Brock Family farm house. It has been recognized as being one of the 5 oldest structures in Grapevine, and has been renovated to capture the original design and spirit of its original builders. The winery is set on a large amount of land, and offers ample, comfortable seating and plenty of shade. Our favorites were the Grapevine White, which is a semi-dry, citrusy white blend of Rousanne, Viognier, Chenin Blanc, and Muscat, and the Grapevine Red, a blend of Merlot, Mourvedre, and Cabernet. If it weren’t for my seasonal allergies, we could have sat there all day!

Grape Vine Springs
This winery has a lot of options, and the majority of the wines err on the sweeter side, which isn’t always our favorite. We’re always up for trying new wines, but we haven’t been overly impressed with their selections. Their wines just seem less “mature” than the other options on Main St, although they do make a killer wine slushie!

Landon Winery – NEW (replaced former Umbra Winery)
This place has a MUCH more welcoming, energetic vibe than the winery that was previously in this location. I recognized their label once we walked in, and realized that we had previously seen it at Total Wine & More in the Texas Wine section! We especially liked the Viognier, and we will absolutely be returning once they officially open to the public.

Messina Hof
I’m definitely biased, but this is by far our favorite wine on Main St., as I’ve mentioned SEVERAL times before 🙂 We ended this Wine Trail at Messina Hof because it really is our home away from home. Read a more detailed account of a day at Messina Hof here!

Sloan & Williams Winery
This winery is not necessarily our favorite on Main St., but it does have a good variety of options and plenty of room for larger groups and events. Recently, they removed several tables and chairs from a corner near the front of the winery, replacing them with leather recliners for a home-ier feel. Let’s just say I didn’t want to get up after relaxing in one of those! We really enjoyed their Tempranillo as well as their Merlot!

We always have a blast when we’re in Grapevine, and we’re starting to explore additional places and things do in and around Grapevine. I mean, after all, we are surrounded by a giant, beautiful lake, several parks, ample family-friendly entertainment, plenty of recreation, and great shopping. We’ll be checking out Hall’s Pumpkin Farm when the weather cools down! I can’t WAIT to see all of those pumpkins!
